Varsity VC Urges Okada Riders On Safe Operations At School Gate

The Vice Chancellor Federal University Otuoke, Professor Promise Mebine has enjoined members of Motorcycle Operators Union of Nigeria, Otuoke Branch to sanitize their operations at the school gate.

The Professor of Pure and Applied Mathematics who was repre Mr. Francis Elawaremi made the call in a meeting with members of the Union in his Office at the Vice Chancellor’s Building on the west campus

The vice chancellor urged the Union members to avoid reckless driving and parking along the University Gate to ensure safety.

In his contribution, the chairman of motorcycle operators union of Nigeria, Otuoke branch, Mr.Omieworo Victor said they have resolved all issues that led to the suspension of Okada operations in Otuoke.

He stated that high cost of transport fare is affecting every body adding that union will call a meeting to deliberate on how to peg and regulate affordable transport fare in Otuoke.

He stated that the union will create platforms like bill boards in strategic locations, social media handles that will be visible for staff and students to understand what is expected of them to pay as transport for various routes in order to reduce frictions while boarding motorbike.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the union, Green Godgift assured that they will enforce the guidelines outlined to regulate clumsy packing at the entrance of the university, adding that motorcycle riders will wear identity cards and transparent vest as a measure to identify and differentiate them from students.

The union secretary thanked the VC for granting them audience and expressed commitment to collaborate with the University Management to ensure sustainable transport fares in Otuoke.
