The management of TNN has retracted a report considered to be offensive against the suspended minister of humanitarian affairs, Dr Betta Edu, even as it has pulled down the said report.
In a statement on Saturday, the newspaper online editor, Mr Bayo Ade said the newspaper did not mean any harm on the reputation of the person of Edu, hence the retraction and apology. “Any aspect of the report entitled ‘At EFCC Office, Dejected Looking Betta Edu Dozes Off While Waiting To Be Interrogated,’ which was published on our website, considered to have offended the minister is hereby retracted and we apologise to her accordingly,” the newspaper said.
In apologizing to Edu, the newspaper restated its commitment to professionalism in the discharge of its duties and noted its determination to continually maintain the ethos of the journalism profession.
