1 min readSpeculations about a COVID-19 case in Eneka, Rivers State has turned out to be a hoax afterall, according to TNN findings.
Last week, there was tension in the Rivers community as the rumour mill became agog about a suspect who returned to the community from Lagos and had shown symptoms that looked like those of an infected person.
Although the identity of the suspect is still shrouded in secrecy, TNN learnt that the man who hails from the western part of the state but lives and does business in Rivers State actually developed symptoms of COVID-19 as soon as he returned to the state.

People who had reasons to suspect his status had to put a call through to the state government. He was eventually approached and his samples taken for test.
TNN learnt that the result had been released from the NCDC and he tested negative.
The state health commissioner, Prof Princewill Chike who confirmed the development to TNN said “he was a suspect. An anonymous person called me around 12.15 that night. And the very next day, our rapid response team went and met him.
