Senator, Others Accept PDP’s Deputy Guber Candidate In C’River

Senator Gershom Bassey, the senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District in the National Assembly has endorsed the choice of Mrs Emana Ambrose Amarwhe as running mate to Senator Sandy Onor, candidate of the PDP for the governorship of Cross River State.
Apart from Bassey, many other natives have supported Emana’s candidacy. They believe that she will add verve and value to Onor’s ticket. Bassey has already received her in his Calabar residence and given his blessings to Emana.
He also promised to put in his best to ensure victory for the PDP when the election comes. This is coming even as Emana has assured that she would work towards protecting the interest of youths and women in the state when the PDP wins.
Some respondents from the state who spoke on her candidacy believe that she will do well as deputy governor. A teacher, Mrs Agnes Agbor said ” I am happy that it’s a woman; at least we are about to have the first female deputy Governor since 1999. I teach Government in secondary school, so I know what I am saying, I think we should support her.”

Emana who had lost out during the PDP House of Representatives, believes that the time had come for the youths to be given the opportunity to shine and show leadership. She said it was not easy running against a man like Pastor Essien Ayi for the PDP House of Reps ticket and noted that coming second in that election as a young woman showed that she had capacity.
