Sack of Rivers APC Exco Questionable, Targeted At Amaechi, Says Associate

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, an ally of a former governor of Rivers State, Chief Rotimi Amaechi has said that the recent dissolution of the executive committee of the Rivers State chapter of the APC and the consequent set up of a caretaker committee was targeted at Amaechi, with the aim of taking over the party’s structures from him.

Eze, a former spokesman of the defunct new PDP also said there was a suspicious and questionable alliance between the APC national leadership and the FCT minister, Chief Nyesom Wike. He said it was doubtful if the party leadership in Abuja had the right to sack an exco that was properly elected.

He spoke to TNN over the telephone on Wednesday, hours after the party took the decision that is now becoming a taking point in the state. According to Eze, Tuesday’s sack of the exco was the climax of years of anti-Amaechi plot by some persons in the APC.

But he noted that all allies of the former minister of petroleum were waiting for instructions on the next step to take. He expressed disappointment in the way and manner the APC in Rivers State was being treated.

Speaking on the legality of the dissolution of the party exco, Eze queried the decision of the party to sack democratically elected party officials and the appointment of an interim leadership. He said the APC had tactically handed over the party to non-members in the state.

He said even though Amaechi’s interest at the moment was on his academic pursuit, he was certain that in no distant time, the former minister will speak and show his allies the way to go.
