Rivers police Dissolves Tactical Teams, Establishe Violent Crime Response Unit

The River State Police Command has announced the dissolution of Tactical Teams in the state as part of efforts to improve operational efficiency, professionalism, and public confidence in the policing.

The development follows a directive by the Inspector General of police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, and is being implemented under the leadership of the Commissioner of police, Olugbenga A. Adepoju.

According to the Command, all disbanded Tactical Teams have been merged into a single, specialized formation known as the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).

The new unit is tasked to respond swiftly and decisively to incidents of violent crime, while adhering to established rules of engagement and respect for fundamental human rights.

The Command also warned officers against extortion, abuse of office, and all forms of unprofessional conduct. Officers are reminded that any violation of the Nigeria Police Force Code of Conduct and professional ethics will attract strict disciplinary action.

The Commissioner of Police reassures residents of Rivers State of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property.

He further urged members of the public to cooperate with the Police and report any misconduct or suspicious activities.
