Rivers Police Condemns Attack On LGA Administrator, Begins Investigation

Rivers State Police Command has condemned a violent attack on Goodluck Iheanachor, the Sole Administrator of Ahoada-East Local Government Area.

A group of about 30 hoodlums, led by Mr. Hector Ekakita, the Chief Security Officer, and the Chief of Staff to the Sole Administrator, stormed the Council Secretariat on Friday and assaulted Iheanachor.

During the attack, the hoodlums stole Iheanachor’s mobile phones, forced him to sign a letter purporting his resignation, and carted away vital documents, including official and personal documents from his office. Iheanachor sustained injuries and is currently undergoing medical treatment, but is reported to be in stable condition.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Rivers State Police Command described the attack as “heinous” and “reprehensible” and has taken swift action.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga A. Adepoju, has visited the scene of the attack with heads of other security agencies in the state and directed the Chief Security Officer, Chief of Staff, and all those involved to report to the Police State Headquarters for questioning.

The statement also stated that Adepoju has warned that failure to comply with the invitation will attract severe consequences, reiterating the Command’s commitment to ensuring public peace and safety.
