Bayelsans and residents wanting to register for the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) have continued to express frustrations as nanny are yet to register due to complaints of lack of network by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
A visit to the Yenagoa Local Government Headquarters of the electoral commission on Tuesday, indicated that residents were willing to register for new PVCs or replace damaged ones but faced with the challenge of slow or no registration exercise.
“I don’t understand what is happening here. I leave my work every day just to come and register and they will be complaining of no network, slow network, server is full, this and that.
“Which kind of country is this where nothing seems to work? They (INEC) are telling me to go home and come back tomorrow. How many times will I be coming to this place just to register for PVC? Am I idle?,” Robert Ikolomi fumed.
Also complaining, a young lady, Miss. Particia Brakumo said “no amount of frustration will stop me from getting my PVC. If they want me to be sleeping here, I’m ready for them.”
“They used to mock us that we only make noise on the social media without PVCs. Now, we are ready to get our voter’s card and they don’t want to give it to us.”
Similarly, Mr. Johnson Inivie said “this country is so funny. To register for ordinary PVC, no way. If they finally register you, to collect the PVC will be another tog of war. May God help us.”
Meanwhile, one of the INEC registration official, who craved anonymity because she was not authorised to speak on the issue said there was great improvement on Tuesday compared to the previous week when the network was very bad.
“They just have to be patient. Everybody will be attended to. We can’t attend to all of them at the same time.
“There’s great improvement today. The network is faster than what we experienced last week. We have been able to register a good number of people today. Before July, which is the deadline for this exercise, everybody would have been covered,” she added.
