Police Nab 19-Year Over Assault, Robbery

A 19-year old Perepiyagha Pere (male) is currently cooling off at the Bayelsa State Political Command’s headquarters in Yenagoa for allegedly stabbing a lady (name withheld) and forcefully dispossessing her of N62,000 through transfer to his bank account in her home at Imiringi community in Ogbia Local Government Area of the State.

A statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Musa Mohammed said the suspect also made away with 300 dollars and other valuables.

The statement reads: “On 4th May 2026 at about 1600 hours, police operatives attached to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit of the Command, acting on credible information, responded to a distress call and arrested one Perepiyagha Pere ‘m’, 19 years old of Angiama Community, Southern Ijaw LGA, Bayelsa State.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, a staff of Adonai Security Services, allegedly attacked a female victim (name withheld) in her house at Imiringi Community, Ogbia LGA, Bayelsa State, with a knife, inflicting severe injuries on her hands.

“He thereafter forcibly compelled the victim to transfer the sum of Sixty-Two Thousand Naira (₦62,000) to his bank account. The suspect also reportedly stole the sum of Three Hundred United States Dollars $300 and other cash yet to be ascertained.

“The suspect is currently in custody at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Yenagoa and undergoing further investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Iyamah Daniel Edebor, psc, IICFIP, foosi, reiterates the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents.”

“He urges members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or contact the Command control room 07034578208 or 09167322691.”
