The Bayelsa State Police Commissioner, Mr. Ajao Adewale has urged road transport unionists to improve coordination within ranks, identify unauthorised operators and promptly share information about suspicious persons and activities with the Police.
The CP gave the charge when he received the Bayelsa State leadership of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), led by its State Chairman, Comrade Dinyoerinyu Eminah at the Command Headquarters in Yenagoa.
During the meeting, the police chief raised concerns about criminals who posed as commercial drivers, pick up unsuspecting passengers around motor parks and rob them of their valuables.
The NURTW delegation acknowledged the concern and pledged to work with the command to stop the practice before it took root.
The union also expressed appreciation for the command’s support in maintaining law and order, and commitment to helping park officials and drivers to keep commuters safe.
Ajao assured the delegation that the Command would sustain its engagement with transport stakeholders and act on credible information.
He urged passengers to use recognised loading points and report suspected criminal activity to the nearest police station or through command emergency lines: 07034578208/09167322691
