There are high hopes that the political showdown between the Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, the FCT Minister, will soon be over.

This is following the establishment of a three-member panel appointed by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, aimed at bringing the political disputes to end by providing an expedited resolution to the crisis.

The three-member panel appointed by the Court of Appeal president, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, to handle the political crisis from Rivers, has scheduled to hold her first sitting on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

The panel headed by Justice Onyekachi Otisi with Justices Misitura Bokaji-Yusuf and James Abundaga, were charged with the responsibility of overseeing all appeals related to the political crisis in the state. They are also to tackle cases that involve political figures and factions within the state.

According to reports, among the appeals set to be heard is one filled by the Rivers State government and the Oko-Jumbo led Rivers State House of Assembly. Also to be heard is the alleged defection of 27 lawmakers loyal to the FCT Minister, from the PDP to the APC.
