General Overseer of the Christian Central Chapel International, CCCI, Bishop Emmah Gospel Isong, has among other requests, charged Nigerians to pray for those in authority.
Isong who stated this in commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day, emphasized that the prayer will enable leaders accomplish the expected mandate.
Democracy day in Nigeria marks the day the military handed over power to an elected civilian government in 1999. As a form of government, democracy has been practiced since then till date.
The bishop in the statement he titled “Responsibilities Of Citizens To Their Newly Elected Leaders (Democracy Day Edition)” explained the need for citizens to cooperate with the government.
The statement reads: “Pray for those in authority so they may accomplish the expected mandate.
“Keep faith on the social contract and be patient, avoiding murmuring, quick judgment, especially when appointments and polices do not favour you.
“Security of lives and properties are paramount. So if you see something, say something. Useful development can only thrive in a safe and peaceful atmosphere, where there is ethnic co-existence, religious tolerance and social harmony.
“Democracy is the govt of the people, therefore the people must cooperate, obey the rule of law and eschew crime.
