Ogbia PDP Ward Leaders Threaten Mass Defection Over Turnah’s Suspension

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ward-9 of Ogbia Local Government Area Of Bayelsa State have threatened to stage mass defection from the party if the suspension of their political leader and South-south zonal Acting Secretary of the party, Barr. George Turnah by the state Working Committee is not reverted.

Briefing Journalists in Ogbia town, the PDP Ward nine Chairman, Ederi Progress, flanked by other executive members, faulted the process of Turnah’s suspension, adding that the provision of the party’s constitution and guidelines that deal on suspension of party members were not followed.

He emphasized that it was only the Ward executive that was empowered by the Constitution to suspend any erring officials of the party.

The ward secretary, Comrade Odo ThankGod who supervised the endorsement of the Chairman’s position through official signing of Ogbia ward nine executive document rejecting the suspension asked the National Working Committee of the party to discreetly investigate George Turnah’s suspension.

Other executive members who rejected George Turnah’s suspension include: Samuel Dokiye Ogbe, Vice Charmain, Abali Arumobhel, assistance secretary, Awodumapu Amakupo, assistant Treasurer, Edom Kotai Enator, Legal Advisor and eleven others.

Meanwhile, Acting Secretary of the peoples democratic party, South South Zone, Barrister George Turnah has assured that his recent suspension from the PDP by the Bayelsa State Working Committee in will be resolved soon.

In a statement personally signed and released by George Turnah on Monday titled ” My alleged suspension by the Bayelsa State Working Committee is of no Consequences, Disagreement, a family affair to be resolved Soon” he submitted that he was not aware of his offences.

He said “given that I do not have the details of the alleged suspension or particulars of the alleged offences, it will be difficult to make a defence in the circumstances.

“However, it is important to State that the seeming disagreement in the State Chapter of the Party is a family affair, which will be resolved in no time.

“I therefore urge the party faithful and particularly supporters to remain unperturbed as the party is well equipped with mechanisms to whether the storm.”
