NDLEA Warns Corps Members Against Involvement In Drugs

As part of efforts to intensify the fight against drug abuse by promoting drug abuse awareness, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA, has held a two-day Sensitization workshop for corps members deployed to Rivers State.

The NDLEA workshop which was held at the state orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai, was in collaboration with the state NYSC management, for the 2025 Batch A Stream 11 corps members deployed to the state.

It was aimed at sensitizing the corps members and the camp communities on the dangers of drug abuse and self medication.

NDLEA revealed that the war against drug abuse had taken another dimension, with intensified efforts to drastically curtail the menace.

Corps members were vehemently cautioned not to waste the beautiful and glorious future ahead of them by indulging in drug abuse.

Speaking at the event, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, stressed the need for corps members to influence their host communities positively.

His words, “Nigeria needs you to contribute your quota to nation building and development.

“Don’t allow peer pressure to lure you into using drugs to deny yourselves that noble role.”

In his sensitization lecture, the Head of NDLEA on camp, Chief Superintendent of Narcotics, Steven Nwogu, advised the corps members to, “avoid peer pressure that can lead you into drug abuse, the consequences are unpleasant and unpalatable.

“I encourage you to seek medical advice before taking any drug as any drug not prescribed and used, amount to abuse.”
