Niger Delta ex-agitators, under the auspices of the 21st Century Youths of the Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience (21st CYNDAC) has urged the president, Muhammadu Buhari to urgently, implement every agreement reached with leaders of the region.
According to the ex-agitators, they were tired of what they described as “this cycle of motion without progression while outsiders are the main beneficiaries of the wealth of our region.”
Calling for immediate implementation, the 21st CYNDAC warned that the federal government will face their wrath if it fails to “keep to the letters of agreement with the Gbaramatu Kingdom, Implement agreements entered by the federal government and Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, and to revisit the 16-point agenda presented by the Pan Niger Delta Elders Forum, PANDEF.
On the agreement between the federal government and the Gbaramatu Kingdom, the group expressed grave dismay on the delay in its implementation, adding that they were totally in support of the recent call by the Gbaramatu Kingdom for the Federal Government to keep to the letters of their agreement.
Recall that the Ijaw of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri Southwest Local Government of Delta State has called on the president to immediately address and rectify the continuous marginalization of Gbaramatu Kingdom within the Oil and Gas industry or expect a total shutdown of all international Oil and Gas companies operating in Gbaramatu Kingdom within the next ten days.
According to the leader of CYNDAC, self-styled General Izon Ebi, “it is rather unfortunate that the goose which lays the eggs for all the nation to enjoy is left to wallow in abject poverty and neglect. It can be said without fear or contradiction that all billionaires with their paraphernalia of wealth in this country can trace the source of their wealth to these Niger Delta communities, but all they have to show for it is environmental degradation, and stark poverty that constantly stares at the inhabitants in the face.
“The role of politicians in the state and federal level has been abysmal. It is like they are scared and totally not in tune with the needs, expectations, and agreement reached between the federal government and the communities, thus setting the communities on an edge that can snowball to another conflagration sooner than later.
“We the 21st century youths of the Niger Delta and agitators with conscience (21st CYNDAC) categorically state that all agreement entered into by the government with the host communities should be honoured.”
“Though the 10days ultimatum given by the kingdom and youths of Gbaramatu has come rather late, the 21st Century Youths of the Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience (21st CYNDAC) support their genuine agitations. A situation of serial rape of resources and negligence of the owners and custodians of the same resources cannot be accepted.”
The leader also expressed dismay over the delay in the implementation of agreements entered by the federal government and Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, warning that his maltreatment would no longer be accepted. According to him, Tompolo’s positive contributions have brought about peace in the Niger Delta regions.
