My First Day in Office: A Personal Reflection

My first day in office was marked by a combination of challenging weather conditions and a sense of anticipation. Early that morning, I left my house under heavy rain and proceeded to the bus stop to find transportation to Rukpokwu. The journey was quite uncomfortable. Commercial drivers drove recklessly, often stopping indiscriminately to pick up passengers, with little regard for their destinations or convenience.

Eventually, I alighted at a junction and boarded a tricycle heading to the Eneka First Market. Upon arrival, I took another tricycle to my final destination near the OPM axis. By the time I got off, both my clothes and body were completely drenched. Nonetheless, I continued on foot to the Omegprint office.

Upon entering the office premises, I greeted the cashier and others present, who received me warmly and offered me a seat as I waited for the arrival of my supervisor. After some time, he arrived, and I greeted him courteously. He acknowledged my greeting and proceeded to his office. Shortly after, he asked Madam Oluchi to call me in.

During our brief meeting, he inquired about my academic qualifications and skill set. I explained my educational background and admitted that while I was not proficient in the use of computers, I could operate my phone effectively for basic tasks. He further asked whether I had experience with camera operation. I responded that I had no formal training, but I was capable of capturing good-quality shots using my phone.

Following the discussion, he instructed Madam Oluchi Onucha who is the general manager of Omegprint/Goshen TV and TNN Newspaper group to introduce me to the rest of the staff as a corper posted to serve in TNN NEWSPAPER.After the introductions, I was given a press release to work on, marking the beginning of my responsibilities.

In summary, my first day was a blend of rough and rewarding experiences. The physical discomfort caused by the rain and the chaotic transport system contrasted with the relatively welcoming atmosphere at the office. I felt a bit anxious while working on the press release, as I was determined to avoid any errors. Ironically, despite my caution, I did make a few mistakes. This reminded me that the pursuit of perfection can sometimes lead to unintended outcomes.
