Governors of the Niger Delta region, political office holders, stakeholders, as well as notable Nigerians, have continued to extend their condolences to the Clark-Fuludu Bekederemo family of Kiagbodo Town in Delta State, over the passing of their father, Chief Edwin Clark.

Even though Clark lived for 97 years, the demise of the Niger Delta’s elder statesman, has brought tears to the region.

In his condolence message, the immediate past Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, General Barry Tariye Ndiomu, expressed deep sense of loss over the passing of the foremost Ijaw and Niger Delta leader.

Ndiomu said at 97, Clark lived a remarkable life leaving behind a legacy of patriotic activism which was cherished by all Nigerians who desired fairness, equity and equality.

According to him, Clark would always be remembered as a true elder statesman and a voice for all marginalized Nigerians, following his display of wisdom, courage and consistency in the agitation for resource control and true federalism.

“He lived a fulfilled life and as a nonagenarian, a national icon and patriarch with legacies worthy of emulation, what more could we have asked for but to celebrate him.

“To his immediate family, I commiserate with you and please accept my heartfelt condolences and may you find comfort in the memories you shared together as a family.”
