Mohammed, Anyanwu Remain PDP Leaders- INEC

Amidst social media postulations and interpretations to last week’s Certified True Copy, CTC, of the Supreme Court judgement on the leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, the electoral umpire, INEC, has taken a firm position on the right party leaders.

Last week, the apex court had passed judgement on the leadership tussle in the party. The CTC got into the public space last Friday, provoking more confusion on the real intentions of the judgement.

While the faction loyal to the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde holds the view that the party is led by Taminu Turaki, SAN, as interim national chairman, those in the group of the FCT Minister have maintained that Abdulrahman Mohammed is the authentic chairman, with Senator Sam Anyanwu as secretary.

On Monday, TNN made efforts to confirm who the real leaders of the party are, and who will very likely endorse the nomination forms of aspirants seeking to contest the 2027 elections under the banner of the PDP.

A resident commissioner in one of the states told TNN that the electoral umpire was guided by laws and would always obey court orders. He referred our correspondent to the website of the commission, for valid information on the leadership of the carious political parties.

When TNN undertook a virtual tour of the commission’s website, it was discovered that INEC maintained the names of Mohammed and Anyanwu as chairman and secretary respectively.

The others who are listed on the INEC portal as leaders of the PDP are Ahmed Yayari Mohammed-national treasurer, Daniel Woyengikuro-financial secretary and Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, -National Legal Adviser.

When TNN got back to the REC, he simply said “take whatever you have seen on the INEC portal as the authentic information. That is where INEC stands and those are the party executives of the PDP.”
