33-year old Daniel Michael Agu and 34-year old Okpoh Kelvin, suspected to be involved in theft have been arrested by operatives of the Bayelsa State vigilante security outfit.
Agu who hails from Abia State and Okpoh from Bayelsa were apprehended with several stolen phones recovered from them.
The vigilante security outfit stationed at the popular Tombia-Etegwe roundabout in Yenagoa Local Government Area arrested the two suspected pick pockets, following a tip off from a victim who identified them after they supposedly succeeded in collecting his phone inside a tricycle.
The suspects were also alleged to have confessed to theft of several mobile phones.
One of the suspect, Agu claimed they had been earning daily income from pick pocketing using tricycle for several years within the yenagoa metropolis.
Chairman of the security outfit, Mr. Doubiye Alagba disclosed that “Agu is married with children. He is the ring leader of this pick pocket gang and has initiated many boys into this criminal act and has been on the wanted list of the vigilante outfit
“These criminals, most at times uses charms and diabolic means to steal valuables from their victims and this arrest is a major cracking down on pick pockets.”
Alagba explained that “about 11am on Monday, one Abasi (m) from Akwa Ibom state, boarded a tricycle and realized his mobile phone has been stolen.
“He quickly boarded another tricycle and ran pass the tricycle used by the gang of pick pockets. He stopped by the unit post of the vigilante service and laid a complain to the officers which led to a stop and search and the culprits were apprehended.
“Several phones were discovered within their possessions including that of the complainant. On switching on of one of the phones caught with them, the owner immediately called and said she was robbed by the suspects at a different location within yenagoa.”

The security chairman noted that the suspects have been handed over to operation Doo-Akpo of the Nigerian Police Force for further investigations.
