Why should an aspirant to a highly revered political office have two names-one known to the general public and the other known to INEC and the courts?
This is the situation around Mr John Ifere, the candidate of the Labour Party for the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency seat during the February 25 election in which he lost.
In all his political campaign publications, including his social media activities and his personal website, the name displayed is John Ifere.
All his billboards and posters in the federal constituency had John Ifere as his name.
But in the INEC forms he filled, the name there is Sunday Oka Ifere. Also, in the petition he filed before the election petition tribunal challenging the outcome of the election, the name used is Sunday Oka Ifere.
Our correspondent made efforts to get clarifications from him on the disparity in his names, but he did not take the calls.
