Jarigbe: I Have Done Better Than Ayade As Senator

Godwin AJOM, Calabar
Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe of Cross River northern senatorial district has said that as a member of the National Assembly, he has performed much more than the sitting governor of the state, Prof Ben Ayade, who occupied the senate seat before him.
Jarigbe made the remarks in an interview with our reporter in commemoration of his one year anniversary in the senate. According to him, “the facts are there to speak for or against Ayade and I. Our people have a choice to make between service delivery and a mission of self-preservation by a self-seeking politician, on the other hand.
Ayade and Jarigbe will be meeting in the field when the electorate file out to vote for the next senator for the senatorial district. Ayade is of the APC while Jarigbe represents the PDP.
At the moment, Ayade is governor of the state. He had bought the presidential form but decided to go for the senate seat when he failed to secure victory at the APC presidential primary election.
Before now, Ayade and Jarigbe had been involved in a serious political fight. Ayade wanted Dr Steve Odey in the senate and he fought hard to secure victory against Jarigbe. But at the end of the day, Jarigbe succeeded. He took over from Odey after the Supreme Court ruled against him.

Many of the people from the senatorial district appear to be in love with Jarigbe because of what they see as the projects he has attracted to the area. During the interview, Jarigbe said he was sure that his works would speak for him and that he would defeat Ayade.
“Governor Ayade was in the Senate for four years between 2011 and 2015 and his records are there for everyone to see. I have been in the Senate for about a year and my records are there to be assessed.

“It is as clear as crystals that juxtaposing my performance with his, mine will dwarf his. As a governor, our state has become a sorry sight”.
He said Ayade doesn’t have any more business in the senate in 2023. “Taking all these in to consideration, Ayade does not deserve being given any mandate to senate in 2023 by the people and so he is not a threat. Our people will reject him at the polls.
