Indiscriminate Waste Disposal: We’ll Arrest, Prosecute Defaulters, RIWAMA Director Tells Rivers Residents

The Rivers State Waste Management Agency RIWAMA, has issued a strong warning to residents of the state to desist from indiscriminate disposal of waste.
The waste management agency also urged residents to stop littering public places including flyovers and adjourning spaces within Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor Local Government Area.
The Director, Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Marvin S. Abbey, noted that defaulters would be arrested and prosecuted in line with all relevant and extant laws.
He said, “as part of the concerted efforts to ensure a clean, environmentally safe and healthy state, the Rivers State Waste Management Agency has commenced “Operation Keep Port Harcourt Clean”.
“Residents, therefore, are enjoined to clean their surroundings and dispose of waste at approved public receptacles and at the approved dumping time of 6:00pm to 10:00pm daily.”
RIWAMA director revealed that, “the Enforcement Team of the Agency has been mobilized to act in line with this exercise
RIWAMA enjoins all residents to imbibe the culture of cleanliness, thus ensuring a healthy and habitable environment”
