Include Us In Civil Servants Christmas Bonus, Rivers Pensioners Beg Fubara

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners NUP, Rivers State council, has appealed to the governor, Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara, to include pensioners of the state for the payment of N100,000.00 each to Civil Servants.

 

NUP Executive Members made this appeal in a release made available to TNN on Thursday, by the state chairman, Com. Collins I. Nwankwo and secretary, Dr. Joseph J. Agbo.

Recall that the governor had on Tuesday approved the sum of one hundred thousand naira (N100,000.00) as Christmas bonus for all civil servants on the payroll of the State government.

 

In the release titled: “An Appeal To Include Pensioners Of The State For The Payment Of N100,000.00 Each To Civil Servants,” the union congratulated Fubara for the Christmas bonus.

The pensioners begged the governor to graciously consider their plight, lamenting that the cost of living was very high and that they buy from same market.

 

Describing the Pensioners problems as very pathetic, more especially as regards to the cost of drugs, the union executives said, “we the Executive Members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Rivers State Council congratulate Your Excellency, the Governor for the Christmas bonus of N100,000.00 to each civil servant in Rivers State, we say, thank you.

“We, the Executive of the NUP plead with you to also graciously consider the plight of Pensioners of this State.

 

“The cost of living is very high and we buy from same market. The Pensioners problems are very pathetic, more especially the cost of drugs. Based on this, may we therefore appeal to you to consider payment of the Christmas bonus of N100,000.00 to each Pensioner as “what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.”

They further prayed God Almighty to bless Fubara and his family for, “considering the plight of Pensioners of the State.”
