Imoke, Bassey, Dansuki In Pains As Sandy Onor Picks PDP Guber Ticket

The senator representing the Cross River Central in the National Assembly, Senator Sandy Onor has won the PDP primaries, causing deep pains for a former governor of the state, Senator Liyel Imoke and Gershom Bassey who was his favourite aspirant.
Bassey came a distant second, scoring 157 as against Onor’s 236 votes. Daniel Asuquo scored 147 to emerge third best aspirant for the ticket.
The election was contested for by eight aspirants including Asuquo,  the member representing Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency, Jarvis Archibong who scored 6 votes,  Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo who scored 4 votes, Mrs Filia Henshaw who scored 2 votes and Ima Nsa Adegoke who scored 1 vote.
Announcing the results, the chairman of the PDP primaries election committee, Babajide kuka, said “I hereby declare senator Sandy Onor, who having scored the highest number of votes, the winner of the 2022,  Cross River state PDP gubernatorial primaries, the winner of this primaries election”.
In his address shortly after announced winner, the newly elected candidate, Senator Sandy Onor said, “the victory is not just for me, but for the PDP, and for all Cross Riverians. We shall make sure we return Cross River state to her lost glory, as a clean and green city and a state globally recognized for tourism. We will ensure implementation of our manifesto.”
