The immediate past governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has revealed how he chased governors in the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, out of the party.

Wike who is currently the FCT Minister made boast of his actions on Wednesday, during a media chat with members of the press.

He explained how he dared the then PDP governors of lacking the capacity to drive him out of the party, rather he made them leave.

According to him, “I was in PDP, there was a fight in PDP, governors were there and I said none of you have the capacity to tell me to leave this party, rather, I will make you leave the party.

“Yes, yes, they all left the party and I am still there because I have the capacity.”

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Wike insisted that PDP remained the only opposition party in the country.

He reaffirmed his support for re-election bid of the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, but assured that the PDP would present a candidate.

“I have never hid my intentions to support Mr president but that does not mean my party will not contest.”

Wike debunked the assertion that the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, was attempting to converge the whole party structures into a one party system.

He asked, “was it APC that sponsored Obi and Kwankwanso to leave ADC. If ADC collapse I am sure you will blame the ruling party.

“I had the worse relationship with the administration of late Mohammadu Buhari, I was intimidated but I did not move.”

The FCT minister also commended Tinubu for the removal of subsidy.

According to him, the stopping of subsidy has made more money available to the states.

“Everyone said subsidy was a scam but past government didn’t have the political will to stop it.”
