How To Improve Weightlifting In Nigeria, Says Iquaibom

1 min read

A board member of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF) Lawrence Iquaibom is optimistic that the sport of weightlifting will soon get a massive lift.
Speaking to journalists at the VIP Lounge of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, venue of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation’s seminar on the menace of doping in sports, Iquaibom said the federation planned to give out equipment to stars across the country, to help in the training of athletes.
“This is part of our discussion with the international body for us to be able to bring in some set of equipment to distribute to the various states.
“But we have to know that this cannot go round all the states because we have 36 states plus the FCT, 37.
“So we will start with one state from every zone; then with time, we will be able to go round all the states to help them prepare for competitions.”
Iquaibom is a certified grade A weightlifting referee and was part of officials at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics.
