The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited are intensifying their efforts to develop human capital for the $5 billion NLNG Train 7 Project, which has reached an impressive 80% completion rate.
The two organizations on Wednesday, inaugurated 140 trainees for a three-month Advanced Nigerian Content Human Capital Development (NC-HCD) Programme in Port Harcourt.

The trainees, graduates from various academic disciplines, had completed a 12-month Basic Training Programme in oil-and-gas-industry-related skill sets. They will now undergo on-the-job training, which includes hands-on participation in operational areas such as Turn Around Maintenance (TAM), Commissioning, and Desktop Programmes.
This training is part of the ongoing collaboration between NCDMB and NLNG to develop the skills of Nigerian professionals in the oil and gas industry. Over 400 Nigerians have undergone basic training in technical, vocational, and specialized areas, equipping them with practical skills aligned with industry needs.
The Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, described the Advanced NC-HCD training as a milestone that reflects the collective commitment of both organizations to nurturing world-class Nigerian professionals. He commended NLNG for its partnership in human capital development, noting that the company has consistently shown leadership in embracing national capacity building.
He said: “Nurturing world-class Nigerian professionals who will shape the future of our oil and gas industry. A critical investment in the sustainability and competiveness.”
“Advancing even further by formally launching the on-the-job component of the NLNG Train 7 NC-HCD Programme.”
The General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development of NLNG, Dr. Sophia Horsfall, expressed appreciation for NCDMB’s collaboration on the HCD Programme. She stated that NCDMB’s support has enabled NLNG to develop a strong, skilled, and professional workforce for the oil and gas industry.
She said: “A reaffirmation of NLNG’s unwavering commitment to human capital development.”
The NLNG Train 7 Project, which involves advanced technology, requires highly skilled technical manpower. The training programme is designed to equip trainees with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute to the project’s success.
The trainees will work within NLNG’s facilities on Bonny Island, gaining practical exposure and real-time experience across technical domains. This hands-on training will prepare them for the demands of the oil and gas industry.
