How My Political Foes Conspired Against Me At A’Ibom Private Varsity -Akpabio

 

 

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio on Friday disclosed how some politicians who were against his political ambition assembled at a private university in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom, owned by a former senator,to conspire against his victory during the last election.
He however said their wish did not come true because God had a separate agaenda for him and Akwa Ibom.

Akpabio represents the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State.
He had a tough political battle before and during the election, as the PDP government obviously worked against him, including the former senator who must have worked hard to deliver his party.
Even after he had won the main election and was battling to become senate president, he was said to have got a stiff opposition from a former governor in the state.

Speaking at the funeral in honour of late Deaconese Aniema Donald Etiebet, daughter of the late former Governor of old Cross River State, Senator Donald Dick Etiebet, in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio recalled the contributions of the late  woman towards his victory.
He described the deceased as “a very strong supporter of mine, who had the sight and the vision of what was about to happen in the senatorial district”.
“She did all she could to ensure that I emerged the Senator representing the good people of Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, which finally led to my being elected by my colleagues as the President of the 10th Senate”.

The former governor who was accompanied to the burial by some of how colleagues said “Aniema was a chip off the old block. When some people who were misled, gathered at Ritman University against me, Aniema  stood her grounds against them. She invited me to her father’s house, prayed for and campaigned for me. God answered her prayers because she had the vision of a better thing for Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District”.
He called on all women to emulate the visionary character of late Aniema, saying, “apart from being my Sister, she was my political ally who stood by me and ensured that all the gang up against my ambition fell flat.
