If Pastor Umo Eno keeps his promise to Ukanafun people, then the general hospital in that local government which has been abandoned for years, may be completed, after decades of lip service.

The expectation had been that the immediate past government of Udom Emmanuel was going to complete the project, moreso as the local government gave him the second highest number of votes that enabled him to win the 2019 election.

In April this year, the Ukanfun Professionals, through its PRO, Omasco Ekeke, had drawn the attention of the public to the project, with the hope that Udom was going to address the abandoned project before leaving office.

That was after a former member of the state house of assembly from the area, Dr Charity Ido, led his colleagues and other stakeholders on an inspection tour of the project.

After that visit, there were high hopes that the government would take some actions. But nothing happened. Udom dashed the hopes of the people, despite appeals to him to get the hospital fixed.

On Sunday, shortly after attending a church service at the Rapture Trust Ministries, Ikot Akpa Nkuk, Eno went on an inspection visit to the hospital where he promised prompt completion of the project.

Contract for the construction of the hospital was awarded in 2008 and the contractor collected N877 million out of the N1.1billion contract sum.

TNN learnt that part of the reasons for the delay in completion of the project was litigation. But on Sunday, there were signals that the contending forces have agreed to reconcile to allow for completion of the project.

During the inspection tour, Eno said promised to revisit and complete the project.
