From C’River Dep Gov’s Ward, Hundreds of APC Members Defect To PDP

Hundreds of members of the APC in Mbubu West 1 in the Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State have defected to the PDP, citing the failure of the APC government to keep their election promises as reason for their action.
The defecting APC members also said there was so much hunger in the land and that they could no more bear the pains, hence their decision to seek refuge somewhere else.
They were led into the PDP by Chief Thomas Odu, a stakeholder in the ward. According to the defectors, they had come to discover that the APC was not sincere and had not shown any signs of improvements, as hunger bites harder across the country.

Receiving them into the PDP, Chief Patrick Agbe, a national ex-officio member of the party congratulated them for taking the right steps to pull out of the APC, saying they did well by retracing their steps and deciding to pull out of a party he said had thoroughly impoverished Nigerians.
Agbe said even though the PDP was not in power either in the state or at the federal level, their decision to defect was a clear signal of their sincerity. “ Your decision to join the PDP at this time, even though we are not in power, only shows that you are not selfish; you are truly sincere about joining forces to root out a government that has brought us to our knees for years now.
“I welcome you all to the PDP family and I like to assure you that you will not regret this action. I am even more excited that you decided to quit the APC, even though our brother and son is the deputy governor. This action speaks volumes,” Agbe said during a breakfast meeting with some of the defectors at his country home.
