The decision of the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to retain the managing director of the NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku has become a source of celebration for virtually all the people of the Niger Delta, particularly those who believe in the future of the region.

In a statement on Wednesday, the National Coordinator South South Leadership Forum, His Highness Anabs Sara-Igbe who is also a former National Publicity Secretary/ Spokesman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum ( PANDEF) said Tinubu had made the best decision in deciding to retain Ogbuku in the office.

According to him, “there are(sic) indeed jubilation and  merriment across the States of the Niger Delta Region over these laudable appointments, and we are very confident that by the grace of the Almighty God Chief (Dr.) Samuel Ogbuku will not disappoint you, the people of Niger Delta and indeed Nigerian at large.

“It’s the prayer of the people of  Niger Delta that the new Board and the Management Team will be allowed to run a full term of 4 years as provided for in the NDDC Act 2000 or the enabling law.

“We are also using this medium to call on the National Assembly particularly the Nigerian Senate also known as the Red Carpet to diligently and urgently screen and approve those appointed by Mr President, so that they will match the ground running.

“Furthermore, Let me also thank the Almighty God and Mr President for listening to the voices of the people of the Niger Delta Region by appointing the Hon. Minister for the Ministry of Niger Delta Development. and also retained  Chief (Dr.) Samuel Ogbuku as the MD of NDDC.”

He said by retaining Ogbuku, Tinubu had “ demonstrated your love and respect for the Traditional Rulers,  Chiefs, Leaders and the people of the Niger Delta Region. You listened to our appeals and prayers and acted accordingly. Thank-you.

“We assure you that with Chief (Dr.) Samuel Ogbuku  you have a reliable partner and a stabiliser, who has capacity and unlimited access to the nooks & crannies of the region, to the low and mighty, the aggrieved  & silent actors and  with tentacle spread across  the region to ensure that there is  peace and stability always in the Niger Delta Region .

“It’s  our believe that while he will in no small measure contribute to the peaceful   exploration and production of oil & gas in the region, with a view of stabilising the nose diving national economy,  he will also attract human capital and infrastructural developments into the region from your government at the centre, which will bring in a win-win situation.”
