Easter: Rivers Police Deploy Personnel To Churches

In a bid to strengthen security in the state in this Easter celebration, the Rivers State Police command said it has deployed personnel to churches, recreational centres, major highways, motor parks and other vulnerable points.

This was revealed in a statement on Saturday, by the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Irinke-Koko, where the command noted that the deployment was to ensure a peaceful, safe and seamless Easter celebration across the state.

The state commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, assured residents and visitors, of what he described as the command’s steadfast commitment to the protection of lives and property.

The command also revealed that, “area command, tactical teams and divisions have been fully mobilized to forestall criminal activities and ensure prompt response to any security threats.

“The commissioner of police hereby enjoins members of the public to remain vigilant, conduct themselves lawfully, and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information.”

The police further made emergency numbers available through which members of the public can reach the command for prompt intervention.

The commissioner of police further cautioned all individuals with criminal intent to desist forthwith, as any person found engaging in unlawful acts will be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with extant laws.
