Cult War Allegedly Claims Two Lives In Rivers Community

A member of a local vigilante at Echue Street in the Mile 2 axis of Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, whose name was given simply as Mr. Sango, was shot dead on Wednesday night.

Sango and a yet to be identified lady were killed by suspected faction of a cult group.

He was reported to have been ambushed along Echue Street, at about 10:00pm, where he was intercepted and shot dead by suspected rival of a particular cult group.

It was alleged that the deceased was a member of one of the houses of popular cult group engaged in supremacy battle in Port Harcourt for over three weeks.

Also, a young lady who was reported to have gone to visit her brother at Mile 1 axis of Diobu, Port Harcourt was reportedly killed by stray bullet on Wednesday night as the rampaging cultists engaged themselves in shoot out.

Though the State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe Koko, was yet to respond to calls and messages sent to her, seeking confirmation of the incident, however, some members of the vigilante outfit who pleaded anonymity confirmed the killing of their vigilante member by suspected cultists.

This incident is happening less than a week after a taxi driver identified as Barnabas was shot dead by suspected cultists infront of his house in same Echue street Mile 2 Diobu.

Also, penultimate Friday, suspected cult groups took control of Education Bus Stop in Ikwerre Road where they engaged themselves in shoot out for over 15 minutes.

Last month, a member of one of the faction of a cult group identified as Ishie was killed at railway axis, Mile 1 Diobu of Port Harcourt.

This development many fear, might deepen cult war in the state.
