C’River Rep Member Fulfills Election Promise, Donates Transformer To Community

There is excitement at Eminekpon community in the Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State, where an electricity transformer donated by Dr Alex Egbona, the member representing the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency is being installed.

The donation is in fulfillment of the promise made by the legislator during his second term election campaigns in the area, following requests by the elders and chiefs, that they had been in darkness for too long.

By last week, electrical engineers were already at the site identified by the community for the transformer to be installed and work on the project is on-going.

In an interview, Egbona said he was mindful of the promise he made to the people and had to go the extra mile to ensure that the promise was kept. He said in no distant time, Eminekpon people would begin to enjoy electricity supply.

He said “as much as possible, I try to keep my promises. My word is my bond. During my campaign tour of Eminekpon sometime in January this year, I told the people that I would provide a transformer for them.

“I am happy that the promise has been kept. I am even happier that the people in that community will begin to enjoy what they have missed for so many years. Work is currently going on and I have been assured by the contractors handling the installation, that they would finish everything very soon.

“It is equally my expectation that other communities in our federal constituency who are having similar challenges would get theirs. I take it one step at a time. I am working out something and once it is ripe, everybody will see.”

Egbona, currently the chairman of the committee on specialty healthcare in the House of Representatives, has been credited with myriad of projects attracted to various parts of Abi and Yakurr local governments, during his first term.
