In the next few months, the people of Ekori, in the Yakurr Local Government of Cross River State will have access to potable drinking water, courtesy of a member of the House of Representatives from the area, Dr Alex Egbona.
Egbona who has sponsored similar projects in other parts of the Abi/Yakurr Federal Constituency, says work has started with site survey for the solar powered borehole project.
According to Egbona, “the water project is conceived to ameliorate the suffering of the Ekori people, in line with the promise I made to the people. I keep my promises. It may delay, but it will come certainly.

“I have embarked on similar projects in other parts of the federal constituency. I am aware that there are many people in other parts of the constituency that are in need of good drinking water. I can only urge them to be patient.”
The lawmaker said apart from the water project, solar-powered street lights have also been provided for Ekori and other parts of Yakurr and Abi and that installation of the lights were on-going.
“I am doing my very best to make life a bit comfortable for my people. I am using my position to reach out to some federal government agencies to be able to get these things done.
“The 2023 budget will soon be passed and I have already included various projects that will benefit my people in the budget. So, once the budget is passed and implementation begins, more things will happen. This is what I am committed to, and God helping me, I will ensure that these things are put in place.”
He said the water engineers have been mobilised and will commence drilling as soon as they were done with the site preparations. Egbona urged the people to pray for him continually, as his plans for the constituency were massive.
On the on-going collection of voters’ cards, Egbona urged the people to go and collect their PVCs so that they can vote in next year’s election.
