COVID19: No more slaughter Markets in A’Íbom

Apparently to prevent further spread of COVID19 in Akwa Ibom State, the state government has closed all slaughters in the state.
Accordingly, there would be no livestock business in any open market in Akwa Ibom. This is according to the secretary to the state government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem.
A statement by the SSG on Monday said the governor, Udom Emmanuel gave the directive for the closure of livestock markets in the state. This will last throughout this month.
The statement said: “I have been directed by HE the governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel to announce the immediate shutdown of all livestock market in state for the rest of May 2020.
“By this announcement, no new consignment of livestock – goats, cows and rams, will be allowed into the state until further notice. Livestock sellers are advised to sell off their stock and proceed to shutdown.
“Security agencies have been directed to monitor and ensure full compliance. Defaulters will be prosecuted.”
