COVID-19: Bayelsa Indigenes Hail NDDC Boss Over Palliatives

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has received accolades from various groups including prominent youth bodies, women organizations and the physically challenged for donating 2,170 bags of rice as palliatives to them.

A release made available to TNN said the donation cuts across the eight local government areas of Bayelsa State.

In his remarks during the flag off, the interim NDDC administrator, Effiong Akwa who was represented by a Director at the Commission’s Office in Yenagoa, Mr. Nwelue Kelechi said the palliatives were part of the commission’s commitment to the improvement of the wellbeing of the people of the Niger Delta region of the country.

He hinted that the NDDC under the leadership of Akwa was witnessing a new dawn, stressing that the present leadership would always do everything at its disposal towards ensuring that women and youths were given succour.

Also speaking at the flag off ceremony, special adviser to the state governor on NDDC matters, Hon. Kuro Nyenye Mathias opined that the distribution of the palliatives was a welcome development and commended the commission for what he described as a laudable initiative.

He noted that the distribution of the palliatives across the eight local government areas of the state would go a long way in boosting the confidence of Bayelsans regarding the core mandate for establishing the commission.
