Coronavirus: Wike Shuts Down Spare Parts, Building Materials Markets In Rivers
1 min readThe Rivers State Governor, Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has announced the closure of the Ikokwu Spare Parts Market and Building Materials Market in Diobu, Rivers State.
This was made known through a release made available to TNN today, by the state commissioner, Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim.
It stated that, “The Rivers State Government wishes to emphasize that the closure of all markets in the state includes Ikokwu Spare Parts Market and Building Materials Market.”
This is coming shortly after the governor ordered the closure of all markets in Rivers State from tomorrow, March 28, 2020, following the confirmation of the 19-year-old female model (unnamed) from Edo State who resides in Port Harcourt that tested positive of the virus.
According to reports, her travel history reveals that she travelled to France, Italy and Greece before returning to Port Harcourt on March 16, 2020.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, despite all the preventive measures put in place, Wike reiterated that, “All Markets in the state remain closed with effect from Saturday, March 28, 2020.”
