Calabar Carnival: Holiday Begins For C’River Civil Servants • As Duke Hobnobs With Otu
1 min readCivil servants in Cross River State will not be going to work from December 20, till January 2 next year, courtesy of the state governor, Senator Bassey Out.
The governor wants the workers to use the holiday period to take part in the Calabar carnival grooves, which is already underway with all kinds of activities.
But it was not clear whether the civil servants will have some extra financial benefits to help them enjoy the holiday to the fullest.
This is coming even as the wife of Donald Duke, Onari is getting involved in the carnival activities. Duke initiated the carnival when he was governor.
But he was not in support of Out’s gubernatorial ambition. On Tuesday, Onari was seen working with the state deputy governor to flag off the dry run for children.
Out was quoted as saying on Tuesday that the holiday was approved in appreciation of the commitment and hardwork of civil servants in the state.
He enjoined the civil servants to use the opportunity to spend quality time with their families while also being actively involved in the Carnival Calabar, while reiterating the commitment of his administration in providing quality and conducive environment for all citizens and residents of the state, while wishing them a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
