Chairman, National Butchers Union of Nigeria, Rivers State chapter, Alhaji Musa Ahmed, has reiterated the union’s support for the newly elected Obio/Akpor local government council chairman, Barr. George Ariolu, saying that the union is solidly behind him.
Ahmed stated this in a chat with news men in Port Harcourt. According to him, “we the members of Rivers State Chapter of National Butchers Union of Nigeria, are fully behind Barr. George Ariolu, candidate of the PDP for Obio/Akpor L.G.A in the just concluded elections.”
He expressed confidence in the ability of Ariolu to deliver, assuring that members of the union are ready and prepared to work with him.
“As the chairman of this union, I can assure you that members of the union at Oginigba slaughter are prepared and ready to work with Ariolu and his team.”
The chairman added that under his administration the issue of crime has been reduced to the barest minimum.
“We have no crime at Oginigba Slaughter. This is because we have internal security committee which handles crime and criminality within the area. Whoever that is caught is handed over to the police immediately.”
On the lock down of Oginigba slaughter market, Alhaji Ahmed said, “Although the slaughter market has been locked down over a year now, indeed we are feeling very bad about it, however, we have sent several messages and delegations to governor Wike on this issue, but no response in spite of this we will not go on protest.”
He further appealed to those trading and doing business in the market to be patient and law abiding.
