As a way of honouring the deceased Bayelsa State deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Pan Niger Delta Forum PANDEF, has declared a three days mourning, urging all of its branches across Nigeria to refrain from official activities from Friday, December 12, 2025.
PANDEF National Chairman, Dr Godknows Boladei Igali, gave this order in a statement made available to TNN.
Igali who described Ewhrudjakpo’s death on Thursday as a very painful news, revealed that it came as a shock to PANDEF Board of Trustees and the National Executive Committee.
He described Ewhrujiakpor as a committed, disciplined, and passionate public servant, which he said earned him the nickname “workaholic Deputy Governor”.
Igali noted that, “indeed from his tenure as Commissioner of Works in Bayelsa State, he significantly contributed to the state’s infrastructural development. Even further his time as Senator representing Bayelsa West in the 9th Senate of Nigeria was also marked by notable achievements.
“Senator Ewhrujiwa Ewhrujiakpor served Bayelsa State and Nigeria with simplicity, candour, and patriotism, setting a shining example for others to follow.
“He will be remembered for his dedication, integrity, and service to humanity, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come.
“PANDEF conveys its deepest condolences to the governor, government and people of Bayelsa State, Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Ofoni Community in Sagbama Local Government Area, and his immediate family.”
