Ayade At 52: What C’Riverians Said To Him
4 min readThe 52nd birthday of the governor of Cross River State coincided with the lock-down of courts in the state as judges refused to sit over the delay in the confirmation of a chief judge for the state by members of the state house of assembly.
Some of his fans and foes went to the social media to send their goodwill messages to the governor.
This is what some of them wrote:
Efio-Ita Nyok
Your Excellency, On this auspicious day of yours, I write to wish you and yours well.
I also request that you drop all charges against your fierce critics —Joseph Odok and Agba Jalingo including Jeremiah Ojanga Archibong and Jonathan Abang Ugbal.
Secondly, like Anthony Bissong Attah just observed, ask your boys at the 9th Cross River State House of Assembly CRSHA to confirm Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme as Chief Judge of Cross River. May parochial interests especially ethnicity not constitute an albatross to justice and fair play in your politicking.
Finally, take your industrialisation initiative more seriously, it can evolve to be the legacy we’ll always relish about you post-2023 or the challenge to a good name.
Happy birthday Sir Ayade Benedict!
Joseph Odok:
Happy birthday to Governor Ayade Benedict, I pray for you today. I sincerely pray that you to put Cross River State above personal interest in all you do until the expiration of your tenure. I pray that your days after service as Governor will find everyone celebrating you. Obviously have no personal problem with you than my crave that you make a mark to live at peace after the euphoria of your government. I pray you get less attached to controversies that will mar your good intentions.
I pray for peace between you and other arms of government especially the judiciary, I pray you give more independence to the legislature rather than give them money to become robber-stamp members wanting to hold you to their personal interest of lobbying them to pass bills. I pray you know that at the end of your administration, you will give account and most of those sychophanting around you will rather leave you for another highest bidder even before the expiration of your tenure
I pray you become the insignia of democracy by correcting perceived imposition of candidates in the PDP primaries, I pray you make history by giving CRS a free and fair Local Government election to douse the fear that your disposition shows that you will just write names and influence CROSIC to announce. Your Excellency this birthday gives you an opportunity to right some wrongs, I pray you allow God use you to achieve this. I pray you reconcile yourself with most PDP legislatures and stakeholders to the state
I pray you look at workers welfare, especially effecting their promotion, minimum wage, pensions and gratuity, and reabsorbing sacked staff
I pray you look into the issue of roads especially the roads that were asphalted in Yala, Bekwara, Obanliku and Obudu before you chose to daulize then and some years have passed without much work done to be desired. God help you to move on despite lean resources and burden of loan deductions
I pray you look into the controversial issue of lands in CRS that made some people to protest with respect to the Navy land for setting up a Naval War College in CRS, I pray you quickly solve the issues of conflict arising from land that have made some unknown assassin’s to kill the most outspoken Chief that insisted on due compensation for land acquired by Government in Obudu community
May God see you through the most challenging times. A resounding birthday from a critic of your government that truly loves you. Age with more wisdom and patriotism
