At Appeal Court, Sylva Loses, Diri Wins

Expectedly, the Bayelsa State governor, Senator Douye Diri is in a joyous mood, following Thursday dismissal of the appeal filed against his election by Chief Timipre Sylva, over the November 11, 2023 gubernatorial election.

Diri had defeated Sylva roundly at the polls and equally defeated him at the tribunal. Sylva was equally chastised by the tribunal for forging election results and bringing them to the tribunal in his effort to secure electoral victory.

The development prompted some natives of Bayelsa to contemplate dragging Sylva to court for forgery. Their threat came about the same time that Diri declared his government’s determination to arrest and try him for the alleged murder of a PDP faithful during the election.

TNN made efforts to speak with Sylva’s media aide, Julius Bokoru shortly after the judgement was delivered but he ignored the calls and did not return them as at the time of this report.

It is doubtful if Sylva will not want to approach the apex court as a final step to launching himself back to office as governor of Bayelsa State.
