Assault On Etche Legislative Leader: Rivers NAWOJ Commends Police For Prompt Investigation

The Rivers State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has commended the state Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka for ordering prompt investigation of the assault on Etche Legislative Leader, Hon. Mrs. Cynthia Nwala by one Mr. Prince Chinedu Onyechi, the Chief Security Adviser (CSA) to the Council Chairman, Hon Obinna Anyanwu.
The association gave this commendation in a statement by her Chairperson, Mrs. Susan Serekara-Nwikhana and Secretary, Ngozi Anosike,.

NAWOJ said, “we the members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Rivers State Chapter want to commend the Commissioner of Police, CP Friday Eboka for ordering prompt investigation of the assault on Etche Legislative Leader, Hon. Mrs Cynthia Nwala by Prince Chinedu Onyechi, the Chief Security Adviser (CSA) to the Council Chairman, Hon Obinna Anyanwu.
“We wish to state that we are aware that the CSA, Prince Chinedu Onyechi has been arrested and investigation ongoing, but appeal that the Police use their good offices to ensure justice is served without fear or favour.

“While thanking the Police Command for the prompt actions taken, we are also calling on the police authorities to ensure that all those who were involved in that dastardly act of the brutal assault and malicious damage to the properties of the Leader of Etche Legislative Assembly are brought to book so as to put an end to such acts in the future.”
NAWOJ stressed that, “Women play a great role in our society and must be protected from women beaters such as the likes of Prince Chinedu Onyechi.
“We learnt that the CSA, Prince Chinedu Onyechi, who assaulted the Leader of Etche Legislative Assembly Leader was at the State Criminal and Investigation Department on Friday October 8, 2021.”
They further called on the police to, “we are urging the Police to do all within its power to ensure that thorough investigation is done especially as the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Obinna Anyanwu, has been boasting that he will use his connection to release the CSO, a matter we are keenly following up.”
