The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has set aside the ruling which called for a fresh election, nullifying the election of Douyi Diri as the governor of Bayelsa State.
The court in her judgment today, October 2, on the Bayelsa State Governorship election annulled the ruling by the Bayelsa Election Petition Tribunal noting that it acted outside its jurisdiction by nullifying Diri’s election.
It also stated that the petition by the Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party ANDP, was status-barred, stressing that the party did not indicate any unlawful exclusion of a valid candidate by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
