Some 1000 millionaires are soon to emerge from the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State, courtesy of the House of Representatives member from the area, Unyime Idem.
This is even as the lawmaker has spoken of his readiness to restore public power supply to Ukanafun within the next three months. Ukanafun is arguably the only local government in the state that does not have public power supply.
Apart from power supply, the local government does not have any bank. The only semblance of financial transactions that occur in Ukanufun is the services rendered by POS operators.
But Idem has promised to deal with the issue of electricity supply. He told TNN over the telephone on Monday about his resolve to empower 1000 people with a million naira each.

Saying that the empowerment programme is scheduled to hold in December this year, Idem said the selection processes would be so transparent that it would be difficult for anyone to hijack or influence.
According to him, two committees would be set up to select the beneficiaries who would be expected to emerge from the family units, then the villages and then up to the wards level.
He said his desire was to ensure that his constituents become financially independent to enable them live good and decent lives. According to him, all the beneficiaries would be trained before the money would be disbursed.
