After Historic Consensus Victory, Jarigbe Visits Former Opponent

In a rare show of sportsmanship and friendship, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has visited Prof Steve Odey, the man he displaced and took over his seat in the senate.

The battle between Jarigbe and Odey, currently the commissioner for education in Cross River State, was fierce.

Even with the support of Senator Ben Ayade, at that time the governor of Cross River, Odey could not put Jarigbe’s back on the ground.

Sunday’s visit by Jarigbe, coming barely 24 hours after his emergence as the consensus candidate of the APC for the 2027 senate election, was the first public meeting between the duo, after their last electoral battle.

Jarigbe said during the visit to Odey’s country home at Okuku, Yala Local Government, that he was there to rejoice with him on his recent elevation to the rank of professor.

Describing the achievement as a testament to his dedication, hard work, and immense contributions to the academic community and public service, Jarigbe said the promotion was well deserved.

The senator also congratulated Odey and his wife on their recent wedding, wishing them a peaceful, fruitful, and blissful married life filled with love, unity, and prosperity.

Jarigbe hailed Odey for his commitment to the advancement of education in the state and prayed for greater accomplishments in both his academic and public service career.

Jarigbe was accompanied by Tom Agi, Paddy Uguge, Dr. Clems Peters, Regina Anyogo, Mr. John Atsu, among other associates.

Ayade had hoped to challenge Jarigbe at the primary election, but had to surrender to the senator after a controversial visit to Aso Rock, paving the way for Jarigbe to emerge as a consensus candidate for a re-election to represent the Cross River Northern Senstorial District.
