After Deadly Political Showdown, Cowardly Fubara Begs “Enfant Terrible” Wike

2 min read

In a rather surprising and almost empty media statement , Rivers State governor, Sim Fubara, on Saturday ate the humble pie and yielded to the demands of PDP elders and his godfather, Chief Nyesom Wike, tendering an apology over the political showdown between him and his predecessor.

The apology which was actually meant for the people of the state, was also copied to Wike and the president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in his verified X handle.

During the week, the PDP elders who claimed to be Rivers elders, had demanded an apology from him for embarrassing their godfather who has not hidden his readiness to throw him out of office for daring to fraternise with his political enemies, including Rotimi Amaechi.

The entire fracas actually started after Fubara visited the Soghai farm which was initiated by Amaechi but which Wike refused to go near for the eight years that he was in office.

In the media statement, Fubara claimed to be a man of peace who was more interested in the peace and progress of the state. But he did not say anything about the people that suffered casualties in their effort to defend and protect him against Wike’s onslaught.

He did not also say anything about  what he intends to do to those responsible for the burning of the state house of assembly, neither did he say if the sacked speaker, Martins Amaewhule and the suspended leader of the house, Edison Ihie, would return to their former positions, before the crisis.
