The Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF) in collaboration with the Teachers Registration Council of Bayelsa in partnership with the British Council has commenced its fifth batch of 5-day training for teachers and school leaders in the State.
The Executive Secretary of the EDTF, Prof. Ebimieowei Etebu while declaring the training open in Yenagoa, said the programme was to strengthen Teachers’ proficiency and digital resourcefulness.
He emphasized that the funds were dedicated for investment in teachers’ capacity development in line with the State government’s premium attached to quality education under the administration of Senator Douye Diri as governor.
Etebu said, under the prosperity government of Diri, the education sector remained a critical component of the development of Bayelsa and future of the young ones.
He described the EDTF’s partnership with the British Consul as a proven collaboration tha has created innovations and positive impact on the education sector beyond Bayelsa State.
Etebu added that the training was designed to equip teachers with new teaching tools in line with global best practices.
The EDTF boss urged the trainees to convert the knowledge gained during the programme into classroom efficiency, students academic prowess and capacity building for school leaders.
The team lead of the British council delegation, Mr. F. Daniel said the programme was not rolled out because the training calendar required it but to strengthen education delivery in Bayelsa State.
He pointed out that the programme was meant to push aside methods that were not longer useful in modern day education development techniques.
