In a bid to impact the lives of the people of their host community, corps members from Charity Community Development Service CDS group of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State, has empowered a widow with goods worth over N600,000.
The widow, Mrs. Lucy Alibara, received items such as rice, garri, beans, satchet oil, food condiments, onions amongst other household food items to start up her business.

Overwhelmed by the gesture, Alibara described the corps members as angels sent by God to wipe away her tears of ages past.
She said “I want to thank the NYSC, corps member Amarachi thank you for what you have done for me today. I thank everybody that contribute to this thing today, thank you.”
Also speaking, two community leaders, Chief Emmanuel Yegenee and the youth community development committee chairman, Mr. Burabari Precious, praised the group for the initiative.
They commended the corps members for coming through for the widow and enjoined them to sustain the effort.
At the unveiling of the shop, Charity CDS President of Tai LGA, corps member Ayinuola Segun Peter with Code No RV/24C/4662 stated that, “we took particular interest in the widow because of her intentional and proactive charity from her next-to-nothing trade done under harsh weather condition of sun and rain as she had no shop nor the capacity to rent one.
“When we inquired about her, we found out that she is a rejected and abandoned widow who chose not to give up in life despite all odds, hence, the intervention of the CDS group.”
In her remarks, the Zonal Inspector Tai zone, Mrs. Adzin Odok, commended the corps members for their thoughtfulness, goodwill, and generosity to the widow.
Odok urged them not to relent on their oars in positively impacting on the lives of the downtrodden.
Further, the local government inspector, Mr. Francis Abi, thanked the corps members and encouraged them to keep it up.
